The prestigious Society for Ethnopharmacology, recently held its annual Young Ethnopharmacologist Award Ceremony, honoring outstanding emerging researchers who have demonstrated exceptional promise and innovation in the field. This event took place during the 10th Convention and National Seminar in collaboration with CSIR-North East Institute of Science & Technology, Jorhat, Assam, India on November 28-30, 2023. The theme of the conference was “Ethnopharmacology for Bioeconomy: where 650 participants and more than 50 eminent speakers participated during the three-day convention. This seminar included eight sessions with eminent speakers, researchers, health care professionals who shared their knowledge related to the theme.

The Society for Ethnopharmacology, India has introduced this competition to recognize and encourage young talented scientists or researchers from academia and industries working in the field of ethnopharmacology, traditional medicine and medicinal plant research. Active members of the Society for Ethnopharmacology, India and International Society for Ethnopharmacology up until the age of 40 years could participate in this competition. Selection of the participants for the competition was based on the abstracts submitted and accepted for oral presentation. This award was conferred on the basis of the presentation, the novelty of the research work and the outcome of the study. Representatives from the executive committee of SFE, India along with experts from different fields of ethnopharmacology and medicinal plant research were part of the selection committee. Waiving of registration for the seminar, travel reimbursement, a memento and certificate were conferred as an award to the best young ethnopharmacologist.

Amidst the vibrant atmosphere of the 10th Convention of the Society for Ethnopharmacology (SFE) in India, a selected group of young scholars took centre stage to present their groundbreaking research during the Young Ethnopharmacologist’s competition. Through a series of captivating images, we delved into the intensity and excitement of this prestigious event as participants presented their oral presentations, vying for recognition as the next generation of leaders in ethnopharmacology.

Through the lens of these captivating images, we have witnessed the energy and enthusiasm of young ethnopharmacologists as they compete at the 10th Convention of SFE India. Their oral presentations serve as a testament to the power of youth and innovation in driving progress and discovery in the field of ethnopharmacology, inspiring us all to embrace the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

Approximately 250 abstracts were submitted for poster presentations for the SFE Young Ethnopharmacologist competition from different states of the nation. Only 15 abstracts were selected for the SFE Young Ethnopharmacologist competition among all the abstracts. During the valedictory session, the five best presenters were awarded the title of the best Young Ethnopharmacologists.
