20th International Congress of the International Society for Ethnopharmacology, Thessaloniki, Greece, April 18-20, 2021

The 20th International Congress of the International Society for Ethnopharmacology, the most long-awaited ISE scientific meeting, was planned to be held in Thessaloniki – Greece, but was postponed twice due to the covid-19 pandemic and finally took place, as a virtual event, on 18-20 April 2021.

A successful congress co-organised by the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, the University of Patras and the Hellenic Ethnopharmacology Society, under the Auspices of the Ministry of Interior Sector Macedonia-Thrace of Greece, the Ministry of Culture of Greece, the Society of Medicinal Plant and Natural Product Research (GA), the Italian Society of Phytochemistry and Sciences of Medicinal, Food and Perfume Plants (SIF) and the Phytochemical Society of Europa.

The Congress hosted a very rich scientific program including 11 keynote lectures, 16 invited lectures, 32 Oral and 140 Poster contributions, allocated in 9 Topics covering the areas of traditional medicinal products, the influence of herbal medicinal products in the Pharmacopoeias and the role of natural products in drug discovery, nutrition, and applied chemistry.

More than 200 colleagues from 31 countries all around the globe attended and participated actively, expressing their satisfaction and enthusiasm about the high level in both scientific content and organisation!
